MEET A MINER

Shane B.
Salt River Materials Group (SRMG)
Safety Manager for the aggregates division
Shane was born and raised in Arizona. Right after high school he joined the US Army National Guard where he served in the 855 Military Police unit for 4 years. He has been married to wife Alisa for 32 years and enjoys sharing their lives with their two daughters Amanda and Amber. When he is not working he enjoy the outdoors with his family by going hunting, camping, 4 wheeling and riding motorcycles. Shane's career background comes from the heavy haul trucking industry which has also kept him involved in the mining industry for over 35 years. Sixteen years ago, he went to work for Salt River Materials Group (SRMG) where he is currently the Safety Manager for the aggregates division. His service with SRMG has allowed him to become more involved in the mining industry and associations like the Arizona Rock Products Association where he has served as the Chairman for the Safety and Transportation Committee from 2012 to 2013. It has also allowed Shane the flexibility to volunteer his time to the Mountain View High School Marching Band. For the last 6 years he has driven their Semi Truck, hauling their equipment for local football games and out of town parades like Macy’s in New York City to the Citrus Bowl parade in Orlando Florida. Two good things he can tell you about the mining industry are : No two days are the same, and every day is an adventure.
